Decorating with Second Hand & Surplus – 120 Sqm of Inspiration

When we were asked if we could furnish a full 120 square meter apartment using only second-hand and surplus furniture, the answer was an easy YES! For us, this is a dream project: showing that you don’t have to compromise on style or comfort when you choose sustainability.

Here’s the result – a home where every detail tells its own story, and everything arrived at the customer’s home in a single, easy delivery window.

Living Room

The living room is the heart of the home, and we wanted to create a space that felt both artistic and inviting. We decided to pick up on the black accents already present in the kitchen and pair them with a rich palette of burgundy and dark green.

The center of the room is dominated by a green sofa from Micadoni. Not only is it easy on the eyes, it’s the kind of comfy you never want to leave. Next to the couch is a daring burgundy pouf from SOFACOMPANY. It’s those contrasts that make the room pop, right?

And let’s talk about the wood details. We’re completely hooked on burl wood right now, and the coffee table from Ferm Living in this material was the cherry on top. Its warm, organic vibe perfectly balances the black metal touches. But our absolute favorite? An incredible vintage lamp that casts a warm, soft glow, matching the coffee table’s tones and setting the perfect mood for cozy evenings.

No living room is complete without a rug, preferably a big one. A large area rug pulls the living space together and keeps the open concept from feeling too sparse. “Swedish Grace” from Layered acts as a neutral base that lets the furniture shine.

Kitchen & Dining Area

Since the living room and kitchen flow together in an open layout, keeping a cohesive style was key. For the dining area, we placed a black table from Decotique, minimalist with just the right amount of weight for such a spacious room.

Around the table are chairs from Massproductions. They’re the very definition of “less is more” – simple, stylish, and surprisingly comfy for long dinners. Above the table hangs a dark green lamp from Normann Copenhagen.

The Office

In the home office above the kitchen, we continued the same theme with touches of burgundy, wood, and black. The desk chair from Andreu World brings the perfect pop of “unexpected red” to the room.

The Bedrooms

With three bedrooms to style, we wanted each to feel like a peaceful retreat. Here, we dialed down the colors and went for a softer approach – without losing character, of course.

The wood details made their way in here, too. A standout is the multifunctional stool from Witka Wood that doubles as a nightstand. That’s the kind of design we love – pretty enough to display, practical enough to use every day.

In the master bedroom, there’s a console table from FeelDesign, perfect as a vanity or for storing jewelry and accessories.

The beds, also unused surplus pieces, are made with gorgeous bedspreads from Brita Sweden and Classic Collection.

Why Buy New When This Exists?

This project proves something important: you don’t need to buy new to get a trendy, personal, and luxurious home. By choosing second hand and surplus, you get a unique interior no one else has, and you’re doing a solid for the planet. Plus, the process is simple – you’ll find everything in one webshop, with home delivery and a return policy.
